UNIQUE TOURS & TRAVELS COVID-19 NOTICE
With the Covid-19 pandemic causing disturbances in the day-to-day lives of all the people in the world alike, traveling during the pandemic may be slightly troublesome and, in some countries, restricted. With so many questions regarding traveling hanging in everyone’s mind, we will be able to give you some insight if you are planning to travel to Sri Lanka; ‘Is Sri Lanka safe?’
Although no country in the world can be marked as ‘safe’ during the pandemic, Sri Lanka can be ticked off as one of the safest travel destinations in the world. Given the island’s geography and considerably light population, the Sri Lankan government was quick to impose an island-wide curfew as a safety measure when the first few patients were detected and the same isolation and curfew protocols are still being followed since January 2020.
However, the Sri Lankan government has not yet decided a date when to open its airports to start letting travelers into the island for recreational and vacationing purposes. However, the safety measures proposed on June 2020 are still being followed to ensure the safety of tourists who come to Sri Lanka.
All travelers are required to hold a valid visa issued for a period of 30 days, which is extendable up to 6 months upon arriving in the country. A pre-departure Covid-19 negative certificate is mandatory when arriving and the test should not be older than 72 hours prior to boarding your flight to Sri Lanka. An on-arrival Covid-19 test will also be conducted at the Sri Lankan airport prior to exiting the premises. If you are tested positive for Covid-19, a 14-21 days quarantine or hospitalization will be conducted as regulated by the government.
Apart from the proactive government rules and regulations regarding the Covid-19 outbreak, the tourism sector of the country has taken additional methods by providing detailed guidelines for all the hotels, restaurants and other holiday destinations on the island. As a result of the comprehensive safety measures taken by the government, Sri Lanka has received the ‘Safe Travels’ stamp issued by the World Travel and Tourism Council on 10th August 2020.
We at Unique Sri Lanka Tours and Travels pay the highest regard and attention to the health and safety measures imposed by the government as well as taking our own steps towards a safer travel experience to all over travelers.
